Sampling Capability
Ecowise provides sampling services and also offers training courses to improve the quality of customer collected of samples.
We offer
- surface and ground water sampling
- calibration for water quality sensors
- dust monitoring
- autosampler installation and service
- soil sampling, and
- multiprobe field sampling of in-situ parameters.
Ecowise can provide advice on procedures for sample collection and sample preservation. Ecowise can also conduct many analyses on-site to ensure full integrity of data. We have boats available to provide full depth profiles, four-wheel drive vehicles and specialised sampling equipment.

How samples are conducted at Ecowise
The key goals of sampling is to take a sample that is representative both at the time of sampling and at the laboratory and not to introduce contamination into the sample.
Sampling at Ecowise is regularly performed, as many clients do not have the expertise or resources to easily achieve this. For example, boats as well as specialist equipment (such as dissolved oxygen meters, zooplankton nets, profile samplers and special sampling bottles) are sometimes required for sensitive analysis of trace metals or bacterial contamination of water supplies.
The samples are stored on ice and analysed as soon as possible.
Some analysis require preservation of the samples, others require that the sample be processed within a few hours due to the unstable nature of the element (biological or chemical) being analysed.
Due to the specific requirements of the various analysis in regards to sampling techniques, storage, preservation, bottle selection, and minimal contamination, Ecowise often requires that clients contact them to discuss this, to ensure greater accuracy in analysis and the eventual results.
Ecowise can provide specially prepared sample bottles and eskies on request. For microbiological samples, Ecowise also provides sterile bottles and advice on sampling procedures.
